Port Blair, Mar 02: In connection with the ensuing Panchayat& Municipal Elections 2022, the Office of the Director, Panchayat and Municipal Elections (DPME) on 01st March 2022 organized a training programmefor the Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers and Master Trainers on the counting procedures in the auditorium of TGCE.
Mr. Som Naidu, DANICS Officer (Retd.) as the resource person imparted training on the counting procedures of Postal Vote, Ballot Vote and EVM.
The third round training for the Presiding Officers, First, Second, Third Polling Officials & Polling Assistants of Panchayat Elections – 2022 was held at the auditorium of DBRAIT.
Adopting an innovative measure for a better understanding of polling officials, a model polling station was set up in the auditorium. A team of newly appointed polling officials performed the duties which included receiving the materials from the distribution centre, all pre-poll preparation, poll day activities, closure of poll, post-poll handing over at the collection centre, etc.
A doubts clearing session was also held. Master trainers’ imparted the training and moderated the demo polling for the benefit of the election personnel of Ferrargunj Tehsil.
Later, hands-on training about how to prepare the ballot boxes and their sealing on completion of the poll was also demonstrated by the master trainers on the occasion.
