Port Blair, Dec 13: The Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society conducted training programme on HIV/AIDS & Blood Donation Motivation, STD & Condom Promotion at ISRO, Dollygunj recently. More than 45 officials & staff attended the programme. The programme was conducted under the observation of Dr. M. Joy, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society.
Mr Girish Kumar, AD (SPM) A & N AIDS Control Society informed about the causes and the consequences of the HIV/AIDS-STDs and the measures and steps to prevent this disease and achieve the objective of getting to zero. He also motivated the gathering for Voluntary Blood Donation, shared the importance and benefits of blood donation. The knowledge of preventing discrimination and stigma against HIV/AIDS. IEC materials were also distributed for the officials and staffs.
Mr Kaushik Kumar Halder, AD(IEC) imparted about HIV AIDS (Prevention & Control) ACT, 2017to prevent and control the spread of HIV/ AIDS, prohibits discrimination against persons with HIV and AIDS and No person shall be compelled to disclose is HIV status except by an order of court
The participants were inform to come forward for “Knowing their HIV Status” by voluntarily getting themselves tested which will be kept confidential and ended with question and answer session.
