Port Blair, Jan 02: The 16 members Island school Badminton team of Directorate of Education consisting of 12 boys and 04 Girls along with 03 Officials have proceeded to Pune Maharashtra to participate in the 57th SGFI National School Badminton Championship to be held at Pune, Maharashtra from 9th to 13th January, 2012.
Before the departure of the team to mainland a blessing ceremony was organized in the Teacher’s Home in which all the participants and their parents were present. During the blessing ceremony Mr. Shakti Sinha , Chief Secretary, A & N Admn appreciated the young budding talents for getting such golden opportunity to represent these Islands in the National level Championship. Dr. R. Dev Das, Director of Education has also wished for better performance in the forth coming national championship. The Senior Officers of this Directorate were also blessed the children and appreciated their talents. Swetha, Class – X-A, SSS Nirmala, Abhishek Roy, Class -XI-A, SSS VKV, A. Zechariah Barnabas, Class -VIII-C, GMSSS Hut Bay, Sebin Saji, Class – IX-C, GMSSS Mayabunder, K.Satya Raj, Class – XI-B, GMSSS Mayabuner, Nazma, Class – IX, GSSS Mannarghat, Jyoti Toppo, Class – IX, GSSS WImberligunj.
The team along with Mr. B C Gain and Smti. Manjula Rai as Team Managers and Mr. K L Manikandan as Team Coach left Port Blair by the sailing of MV Swarajdweep on today the 2nd January, 2012.
