Baratang, May 20: The Assistant Commissioner, Rangat along with other officers visited containment zones of Baratang Island at Vijay Garh village (Ranchi Basti, Bangali Basti) and Sundergarh village to check proper implementation of COVID-19 protocols.
The Assistant Commissioner reportedly gave instructions to COVID-19 Duty Staffs for arrangement of ration articles and to provide medical facilities, to people, who are in containment zones.
Later Dr. Heny, Primary Health Centre Baratang along with other staffs started medical checkup of people from home to home and today visited Vijay Garh area for medical checkup and to distribute preventive medicines.

Port Blair, May 16: Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman District today said that the North and Middle Andaman District is having sufficient quantity of Oxygen cylinders, oximeters, oxygen concentrators and all life-saving medicines in all CHCs and PHCs and there is absolutely no reason to panic.
Talking to media, she further pointed out that everyday she is taking stock updates from all the CMOs of NMA District.
The DC further said that the rumour about non-availability of oxygen concentrators or oximeters is totally false. The Deputy Commissioner also lauded efforts of CMO, Diglipur, Dr. Siddha Raju for his supervision, because of which a patient with lung infections, is now recovering.
The Deputy Commissioner cautioned people against sharing misleading and fake information in social media.
Part of Sundergarh village declared Micro Containment Zone for 7 days

Port Blair, May 16: Part of Sundergarh village under Rangat Tehsil declared Micro Containment Zone for 7 days from 15 May 2021.
In view of surge of ILI symptoms (suspects of COVID-19), in some part of Sundergarh village under Rangat Tehsil the area in and out area, behind Panchayat building (GP Sundergarh), Sundergarh village under Rangat tehsil has been declared as Micro containment zone, for preventing spread of infection, as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Ministry of Home Affairs from time to time, an order issued by Executive Magistrate, Rangat said here today.

Port Blair, May 03: The former Up-Adhyaksh of North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad Mr. Alegar Swami has expressed gratitude towards the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman and also Deputy Commissioner South Andaman for making all necessary arrangements to allow travel of SBI ATM Engineer to Baratang tomorrow to repair the lone ATM of the region which is out of order since nearly last one week.
Earlier this morning, Mr. Alegar Swami and a few other former PRI members of the area had visited the Bank and spoke to the branch manager regarding the issue, who informed that due to restrictions in movement of ATM technicians the ATM Could not be repaired.
Mr. Alegar Swami spoke to Senior Managers of SBI at Port Blair over phone this morning and also requested help from DC of North and Middle Andaman in this regard.
Finally by evening the Chief Manger of SBI informed that tomorrow SBI Engineers will reach Baratang and repair the SBI ATM.
“Baratang ATM will be in operational from tomorrow as our Engineer will visit Baratang. We got a lot of cooperation from Local Administration. Thanks to them for their support. Special permission has been given by DC office,” the Chief Manager told Andaman Sheekha over phone today.
DC N & M Andaman Urges eligible Islanders to come forward for vaccination

Mayabunder, Apr 07: The Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, has urged people of North and Middle Andaman, who are eligible to get Corona Vaccine, to come forward for vaccination to protect themselves and people around them.
Talking to media the DC, N & M Andaman said that the District Administration started with 3 vaccination centers, which was increased to 5 and now there are six vaccination centers including the Sr. Sec School of Kadamtala. She assured that in future as per guidelines and available resources more centers will be opened for public.
Allotment of rooms, newly constructed shopping complex under Zilla Parishad at Mayabunder

Billyground, Mar 31: Under the close supervision of Mr. Mohan Kumar, CEO, Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Mayabunder today 15 rooms of newly constructed Shopping Complex under Zilla Parishad Constituency Pahalgaon were allotted in a highly organized manner.
To allot the rooms of the said Shopping Complex the CEO Zilla Parishad made open advertisements in local newspapers twice for its transparency. Consequently, as per the advertisement total 22 individuals applied for the same.
The rooms of the Shopping complex have been allotted on auction to the highest bidders of the various categories of rooms. Out of these 15 rooms, 1 room each reserved for Divyang, CCS public utility, Opening of Bank unit, Tailoring for widow, Ex serviceman, BPL Category and remaining rooms have been kept in open to all category.
The whole auction process was conducted in presence of the Chief Guest of the Occasion Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, N & M Andaman.
Dr. Bhati expressed her satisfaction on very transparent process of allotting the rooms of Shopping Complex and expressed her best wishes to those who got an Opportunity to own rooms in their name in Pahalgaon Shopping Complex.

Mayabunder POCSO Court Convicts One for Life to Rape minor Sister-In-Law
Port Blair, Mar 26: The Hon’ble Additional Sessions Judge -cum- Special Judge under POCSO Act, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder has sentenced one to undergo imprisonment for life for the offence under section 6 of POCSO Act, 2012 and provision under section 376 IPC and also to pay fine of Rs. 2,00,000/-.
As per details available here, the prosecution case as bring out and envisioned by the written statement lodged by the victim girl herself against the accused person before the Police Station Billiground and the factual matrix as reflected in a nut-shell is that the accused person is the brother-in-law.
The victim girl visited the house of accused in the year 2020 and when victim girl was sleeping, the culprit has committed the misdeed. The accused has committed the offence of aggravated penetrative sexual assault to his own sister-in-law and in this way the prosecution has been able to substantiate the case beyond the shadow of any reasonable doubt.
Accordingly, Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Hon’ble Additional Sessions Judge -cum- Special Judge under POCSO Act, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder has found guilty the accused person, namely, Shri: Nando Mondal (37 years), S/o Shri. Debendranath Mondal R/o Curtburt Bay under PS Billiground and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for life for the offence under section 6 of POCSO Act, 2012 and provision under section 376 IPC and also to pay fine of Rs. 2,00,000/- (rupees two lakhs), out of which 90% amount is to be paid to the victim as compensation u/s. 357 Cr.P.C, in default of payment he will have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year more.
For the rehabilitation of victim girl, an amount of Rs.5,00,000/- (rupees five lakhs) has been awarded as compensation as per provision u/sec. 357A read- with section 33 (8) of POCSO Act which will be paid by the Government from Government fund as provided under 7(4) of POCSO rule.
The entire case was investigated by Probationary SI Arthi Roy under the guidance of SI Deben Kumar Roy, former SHO of Police Station Billiground which was appreciated for good performance. The prosecution case was conducted by Shri. Keshab Ch. Mondal, Learned Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO) Act.
Rangat Resident convicted for brutal murder of own sister

Mayabunder, Mar 15: In a recent judgment, Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Hon’ble Additional Sessions Judge, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder has sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life to an accused of murdering his own sister.
As per details, the victim of this case had filed a suit for partition of ancestral properties and the same suit was decreed by the civil court. For the effecting partition of decreed properties, on 28/04/2017, the fateful day, the revenue officials were preparing a rough partition plan at the house of the son of the culprit in the presence of the victim, other shareholders and police personnel.
As per case file, the culprit brother suddenly came and took out a sharp knife that he had hidden in the shirt and stabbed on the neck of the victim. The present Head Constable apprehended the culprit and forced him to drop the knife from his hand. Thereafter, the victim was shifted to CHC Rangat by PCR van. The doctor declared the victim brought dead.
The trial commenced with the framing of charge under section 302 of IPC against the accused Kartick Mondal and found him guilty on 10/03/2021 and taken into custody and remanded him to judicial custody for reflection of mind for hearing the quantum of punishment.
Considering the entire gamut of the crime and also keeping in mind the old-age etc., on 12/03/2021, Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Hon’ble Additional Sessions Judge, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder has sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life for the commission of offence punishable under section 302 of IPC.
The case was investigated by Inspector P.K Abdul Arif, former SHO, PS Rangat. The prosecution case was conducted by Shri. Uttam Kirtania, Learned Additional Public Prosecutor.
Man strangulates lover at Jeevan Tikry of Karmatang to end extramarital affair

Port Blair, March 12: In yet another incident of murder at North and Middle Andaman linked to extra marital affair, a plumber attached to JE Karmatang allegedly killed his lover by strangulating her with a long scarf (dupatta). The victim was working in Mahatma Gandhi Government College (MGGC) of Mayabunder as sweeper.
According to details both, the victim Mrs. Manjojith Bara 37 years and the accused Mr. Suriyanarayan, 38 years were in a relationship, which started nearly 15 years back.
Both, Mr. Suriyanarayan & Mrs. Manjojith Bara have their own family and kids.
According to sources since last couple of days the man Mr. Suriyanarayan was not replying to Mrs. Manjojith Bara’s calls. Following that Mrs. Manojith Bara called him to Jeevan Tikry of Karmatang area, where both had a heated argument.
Sources said that during the argument, Mr. Suriyanarayan killed the victim by strangulating her.
As per reports, today morning the accused Mr. Suriyanarayan was arrested by PS Mayabunder police team. He was later produced to court from where he was sent to judicial custody.
Lakshmamma Suicide Case; Mayabunder Police arrests Husband and Mother-in-Law

Mayabunder, Mar 09: The news of alleged suicide committed by Ms. G Lakshmamma, 25 years, seems to have brought back focus of entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands towards incidents domestic violence, as there are many allegations that the victim, Ms. G Lakshmamma was subjected to domestic violence.
Now it reported that the Police Station Mayabunder has registered an FIR yesterday in this case, against husband and mother-in-law of the victim, based on the complaint lodged by Ms. Rajeshwari, the mother of Late G Lakshmamma.
Finally today, Mohd Arbaaz Khan, the husband and Musleha Khatun, the mother-in-law of late G Lakshmamma were arrested on Abetment of suicide, cruelty towards the victim etc charges.
7 month ago Lakshmamma had married Mohd Arbaaz Khan, a resident of Pokhadera, Mayabunder. After marriage she stayed with her husband at Dollygunj and last month Lakshmamma and Arbaaz shifted to Mayabunder to Arbaaz parent’s house. Lakshmamma committed suicide in 09 February 2021.
The matter came into limelight after the Director General of Police of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Satyendra Garg IPS recently twitted regarding this issue. Many other organizations and responsible citizens also have been demanding thorough inquiry in this matter and justice for the victim.
