Port Blair, Sep 30: A Person namely, Mr. Matindra Mondal, a resident of Krishna Nagar No. 06, Swaraj Dweep, reportedly committed suicide recently by hanging himself inside his rented house.
As per details, he was a permanent resident of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal and was doing private works at Swaraj Dweep. As per sources he was under depression from last couple of days. The body was first seen by his neighbours on 29 September 2021 morning and the matter was immediately reported to Police Station Swaraj Dweep.
Sources said that the person was a habitual drinker and was separated from family but the exact reason behind this suicide is still not known. Further investigations are going on.
Lady Constable of Andaman Police arrested for keeping minor as Domestic Help and Beating her

Port Blair, Sept 26: Andaman and Nicobar Police has arrested one lady constable for allegedly keeping a minor girl as domestic help and physically beating her, the Director General of Andaman and Nicobar Police informed in a social media message.
“Woman Police Constable Anjali Hawalader arrested for physically beating a minor girl kept for domestic work. A case under Juvenile Justice Act and IPC has been registered against her. Policemen, Policewomen are expected to follow rules and laws they are enforcing. No exceptions,” tweeted the DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Police.
As per details, the information regarding the child in distress was received by Child Line 1098 ‘Prayas’ NGO on 23 Sept. 2021 after which a former complaint was lodged in local police station.
POCSO Court Mayabunder Convicts One Accused
Mayabunder, Sept 24: The Hon’ble Special Court under POCSO Act, Mayabunder has been functioning in the adverse atmosphere in this prevailing situation of COVID 19 pandemic but speedy disposal of the cases are continuing and remarkable. One case under POCSO Act was registered in the Billiground Police Station on the basis of fardbayan of victim girl in the year 2020.
The prosecution has sufficiently proved that the accused person has committed the offence under section 08 of POCSO Act, 2012 for committing sexual assault upon a minor girl aged about 13 years
Accordingly, Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Hon’ble Additional Sessions Judge -cum- Special Judge under POCSO Act, North & Middle Andaman District Mayabunder has found the accused person namely Sourav Mondal R/o Curtbert Bay, Billiground guilty and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years for the offence under section 8 of the POCSO Act, 2012 under the provision of 235(2) of Cr.PC and also to pay fine of Rs.50,000/, out of which 90% amount is to be paid to victim girl as compensation under section 357 Cr.PC, in default of payment which he will have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for six months more.
For the rehabilitation of victim girl, an amount of Rs 50,000/- has been awarded as compensation as per provision of 357A of Cr.P.C from Victim Compensation Fund. The entire case was investigated by SI Arthi Roy under the guidance of SI Deben Kumar Roy, former SHO, PS Billiground for which the Hon’ble Court has appreciated for her good performance. The prosecution case was conducted by Shri. Keshab Chandra Mondal learned Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO Act), Mayabunder.
One Arrested for Impregnating Minor

Port Blair, Sept 22: The Andaman and Nicobar Police yesterday arrested a resident of Tugapur area for impregnating a minor girl.
As per information received from reliable sources a minor girl yesterday went to Dr. R P Hospital, Mayabunder for treatment. During the medical checkup, Doctor found her pregnant for more than two months and consequently the matter was informed to nearby police station.
On receipt of the complaint from Hospital, Police team under the direction of SHO, swung into action and within hours the accused was arrested. He was later produced in court from where he was sent to Judicial Custody.
Missing lady traced out by PS Humfrigunj within 48 hours

Port Blair, Sept 20: On 18/09/21 evening, Mr. Romen (name changed) R/o- Hasmatabad reported to PS Humfrigunj about the missing report of his wife Mrs. Anjana (name changed) from his house and told that both her mobile numbers are switched off.
But due to dedicating efforts of Police Station Humfrigunj, the missing lady was found within 48 hours after receiving her missing report. The lady was found from Brookshabad area from her friend’s house. Later, both husband and wife were given counseling at Police station.
South Andaman Police recovers Missing Minor Boy within 36 Hours after He went Missing
kidnapping and due to the extensive efforts of the Investigating officer, SI Regan Isaac under the direction of Insp. K. Joju, SHO PS Aberdeen, the minor boy has been recovered within 36 hours of time after registration of FIR, from a closed lodge at Aberdeen Bazaar.
On 13/09/2021, the minor boy went to Aberdeen Bazaar but he did not return home till late night. Accordingly, as per the statement of the local guardian of the missing minor boy, a case vide FIR No. 120/21 dated 14/09/2021, U/s 363 IPC has been registered at PS Aberdeen. The investigation was entrusted to SI Regan Isaac of PS Aberdeen. Acting swiftly, the Investigating Officer made extensive efforts to recover the minor boy by analyzing various CCTV footages and examining the witnesses. Due to timely and prompt action, the minor boy was recovered on 15/09/2021 from a lodge at Aberdeen Bazaar, which was closed since the lockdown. The minor boy had isolated himself in the said lodge due to personal issues. Further investigation is going on.

PS Diglipur Team Seizes Venison
Port Blair, Sept 16: On 15/09/2021 credible information was received from reliable source that few persons are transporting venison in a cargo vehicle at Shyam Nagar area. Upon this, a team of PS Diglipur consisting Inspr. Stalin N.S., SHO PS Diglipur, HC/938 Mohan Rao, PC/2886 Nityanand Baroi, PC/540 Prince Ch. Das and CT/161 Madhusoodan rushed to the suspected area at Shyam Nagar and intercepted the said cargo vehicle (M/Bolero Pick up Van) and recovered a blue coloured gunny bag containing 14 Kgs venison and arrested 06 person on the spot namely 1) Shri Khogen Biswas Driver of Pick-up Van 2) Subhankar Mazumdar 3) Basudev Mondal 4) Prosanjit Biswas 5) Uttam Kr. Das and 6) Swapan Biswas. After observing all codal formalities, the seized articles were handed over to forest officials for further necessary action. The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Shri R.K. Sharma, SDPO(Diglipur).

14 KG Venison Seized by PS Diglipur
Port Blair, Sept 15: On 15/09/2021 credible information was received from reliable source that few persons are transporting venison illegally in a cargo vehicle at Shyam Nagar area. Upon this, a team of PS Diglipur consisting Inspr. Stalin N.S., SHO PS Diglipur, HC/938 Mohan Rao, PC/2886 Nityanand Baroi, PC/540 Prince Ch. Das and CT/161 Madhusoodan rushed to the suspected area at Shyam Nagar in departmental vehicle Bearing Reg No AN 01 M 0007 along with digital weighing machine.
When the team reached near Radhanagar Church, a Mahindra Bolero Pick-up Van bearing Reg. No. AN-01-K- 9604 vehicle came from Shyamnagar side, which was intercepted by police team and on checking the vehicle’s cargo carrier at the rear side of the cabin found carrying tin sheet scraps, empty carton box sheets and a blue coloured gunny bag which was checked and found to contain red meat which looked like venison weighing 14 Kgs.
On asking the identity of the persons they disclosed their names as 1) Mr. Khogen Biswas S/o Mr. Narayan Biswas (26) yrs. R/o Swarajgram, Ward No. 1., Driver of Pick-up Van 2) Subhankar Mazumdar S/o Mr. Shankar Mazumdar (23) yrs. R/o Swarajgram 3) Basudev Mondal S/o Mr. Maanto Mondal (38)yrs. R/o Radhanagar, near PHC Radhanagar 4) Prosanjit Biswas S/o Late Khitish Mondal (26) yrs. R/o Swarajgram, Ward No.2 5) Uttam Kr. Das S/o Late Mahadev Mohan Das (42) yrs. R/o Navin Nagar and 6) Swapan Biswas S/o Suresh Biswas (40) yrs. R/o Radhanagar, Ward No.2.
The aforesaid accused person are outsourced safai karmacharis working for Gram Panchayat Radhanagar and the aforesaid involved vehicle AN01 K 9604 Tanuja Transport is running on contract basis for garbage transport. Finding prima facie sufficient evidence for possession of red meat appearing to be venison from the aforesaid persons and commission of cognizable offence punishable under section 50/51 of Wildlife (Protection) act, 1972.
The recovered meat weighing 14 kgs on production of Mr. Khogen Biswas(Driver of Pick-up Van) and the involved vehicle Mahindra Bolero Pick-up Van bearing Reg. No. AN-01-K- 9604 was seized by Insp. Stalin N S, SHO PS Diglipur on 15/09/21 at 1305 hrs under the cover of seizure memo and all the above persons were arrested on the spot at 1315 hrs respectively.
The seizure intimation of meat was immediately informed to Range Officer, Diglipur Mr. Bipul Chandra Roy over Phone and the seized meat 14 kgs and 06 arrested persons alongwith involved vehicle Mahindra Bolero Pick-up Van bearing Reg. No. AN-01-K- 9604 along with the key were brought to PS Diglipur and handed over to forest officials after observing all codal formalities for further necessary action. The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. R.K. Sharma, SDPO(Diglipur).

Achievements of 67th Batch of Andaman & Nicobar Police
Port Blair, Sept 09: On the 10th year anniversary of 2011, 67th Batch of Andaman & Nicobar Police, various programs organized by the 67th Batch of ANP. On 14th July, 2021 a blood donation camp was organized at G.B Pant Hospital, total 14 units of blood were donated by cops.
In continuation, when blood is required from G.B Pant hospital, the staffs of 67th batch voluntarily donated blood at G.B Pant hospital and an amount Rs. 10,000/- (Ten Thousand Rupees Only) was also donated to lady, Cancer patient R/o Ograbraj.
The batch has provided meals to many orphanages in Andaman & Nicobar Islands viz Vanavasi Kalyan Ashramam, Shadipur; Bethany Children’s Home, Bathu Basthi; Old age Home, Ferrargunj; Love Children’s Home, Manglutan; Balika Niketan, Attam Pahar; Seva Niketan, Dairy Farm; Pranab Kanya Ashramam, Delanipur; Nirmal Hruday, Sneha Bhawan, Diglipur; Capstone Childrens Home, Birdline; Nirmala Shishu Bhawan, Goal Ghar and Darussalam Yatheem Khana, Goal Ghar.
In continuation, street animals were also fed by 67th Batch of ANP during Covid-19.
The 67th police batch also donated utensils, Gas Stove, general items for childrens, clothes etc. to orphanages on 09/08/2021 and also distribute ration kits to needy families at Round Basthi, Dairy Farm, Bathu Basthi, Kadamtala from 14th July 2021 to 09th August 2021 during lockdown.
On 29/08/2021, 67th batch donated folding bed, emergency light and some ration articles for an old lady who is residing at Nayagaon, Port Blair.
On 02/09/2021, the batch donated Rs. 11,000/- towards Child. Kavya Suresh, age 6 yrs, D/o Shri. Suresh Kumar R/o Bambooflat for her treatment.
It was great achievement for the batch, another two police batches in ANP inspired by the 67th Batch of ANP, 2005 Batch of IRBn in Andaman & Nicobar Police organized a blood donation camp at G.B Pant Hospital on 06/09/2021 on the occasion of their completion of 16th year service in ANP. Our 67th Batch is performing duty with utmost devotion and sincerity as well as making all efforts for the welfare of humanity and for the society.
Police Team Conducts Search in District Jail Premises, recovers, mobile phones, SIM Cards, Knives, Tobacco and Lighters
Port Blair, Aug 17: Based on confidential information received from sources that there is usage/ circulation of contraband articles in the District Jail premises, Prothrapur, a team of A&N Police led by a Deputy Inspector General of Police and other Senior Officers conducted searches inside the Jail premises on 17th August, 2021. A team of about 60 Police personnel along with Superintendent (Prisons) and two Executive Magistrates reached the District Jail and conducted searches.
Thorough searches were conducted in the cells of the prisoners, library, kitchen and other common areas of the Jail premises. During the searches, 2 Mobile phones, 2 SIM cards, 10 Knives, 28 packets of Bidi, 4 tins of Zarda, loose tobacco, betel nuts, 14 lighters, Myanmar currency amounting to 6500 Kyat and other documents and articles were recovered. These items are strictly prohibited within the Prison cells and premises. The search operation lasted for about 04 hours.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 74/21 dated 17/08/2021 has been registered at Police Station Pahargaon U/S 414, 120 (B) IPC r.w.s 42 of Prisons Act, 1894 and investigation has been taken to ascertain the source and origin of these prohibited articles found inside the prison.
