PS Kalighat Solved Murder Case; Arrested Accused Within Hours of Crime

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 15: On the night of 13/09/2024, an informer informed at PS Kalighat that a person namely Manick Sheet had been killed. Acting swiftly, SI Ashok Baghel SHO PS Kalighat and his team reached the crime scene and found the body of the deceased, Manick Sheet, near the residence of one Rajkumar. The police team briefly inspected the crime scene and began investigating the case.
According to the informer, on the evening of 13/09/2024, he and Rajkumar were at Rajkumar’s residence, talking. During their conversation, a person namely Manick Sheet, a furniture shop owner for whom Rajkumar worked as a carpenter, arrived at Rajkumar’s residence and objected to the presence of another person. This led to a heated argument between Manick Sheet and Rajkumar. The argument escalated, and in a fit of anger, Rajkumar picked up an axe from his home and struck Manick Sheet on the head, causing severe injuries that led to his immediate death. Rajkumar then attempted to dispose of the body in a nearby bush, but the witness, terrified, fled the scene and informed his family and the police.
Based on this information, an FIR was registered under the relevant sections of BNS – 2023 at PS Kalighat, and SI Baghel took up the investigation. A team, constituted by Sh. Ankesh Yadav, SDPO Diglipur, and led by the SHO of PS Kalighat, immediately began an extensive search of accused at all possible areas during the night. Despite the odd hours, the team’s tireless efforts led to the successful apprehension of the accused, Rajkumar, in the Kalara area, as he attempted to escape after committing the crime.
Alongwith Forensic team, thorough investigation was conducted, and the weapon used in the crime, along with other evidence, was properly seized. The accused, Rajkumar Sarkar, S/o Sh. Lakhman Sarkar of Nabagram, was arrested and produced on 14/09/2024 before the Hon’ble Court, Mayabunder, where he was remanded to judicial custody.
The team at PS Kalighat acted swiftly and professionally, resulting in the prompt arrest of the accused. The operation was carried out under the direction of Sh. Ankesh Yadav, SDPO Diglipur, and the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.

Police Constable attacked while Conducting Patrolling Duty in Manjery; Two arrested

Humfrygunj, September 10: A Police Constable, stationed at PS Humfrygunj, has been reportedly assaulted by two individuals while he was on patrol duty in the Manjery area on Monday evening.
According to online FIR portal of A & N Police, on the evening of September 9, 2024, at around 4:00 PM, the Constable, Mr. Raja and fellow constable were assigned to patrol the area as part of security measures for the ongoing Ganesh Puja celebrations. They were on a motorcycle (Reg. No. AN01-D-0253), with PC Raja driving and other PC seated behind him.
At approximately 6:30 PM, the police jawans reached the vicinity of the Government Primary School in Manjery when they noticed a dark grey car parked suspiciously on the roadside. Sensing something unusual, the jawans approached the car, only to find two hefty men inside, who appeared visibly nervous upon seeing the policemen.
The officers, suspecting the presence of illegal items in the vehicle, questioned the men. The officers instructed the men to step out of the car and began searching the vehicle. However, the suspects resisted, attempting to prevent the officers from conducting a search.
During the search, one of the suspect became aggressive. Despite the threat, the officers continued their search, prompting one of the suspect to push PC Raja, causing him to fall out of the car. As a result, PC Raja sustained minor injuries to his back, and his uniform was torn in the scuffle.
The other PC immediately came to his colleague’s aid, but before the officers could apprehend the suspects, they quickly got back into the car and fled the scene at high speed.
Following the incident, PC Raja informed the SHO via phone and returned to the police station to file a formal complaint. Both officers have requested legal action against the suspects, identified as, Ettar Singh and Inderjeet Singh, for assaulting a police officer and obstructing their duties. As per last input both accused have been arrested by PS Humfrygunj in a swift action. Further information is awaited.

 

Son Arrested for Attacking Mother in Aniket; Mother remains critical

Port Blair, September 10: In a shocking incident, a resident of Aniket, Pankaj Kumar was arrested for brutally assaulting his mother, Smti. Vidhyawathi, on the night of September 9.
As per online FIR portal, Father of the accused Mr. Roop Kumar, filed a complaint stating that his son, intoxicated and aggressive, returned home around 9 PM and started verbally abusing his mother over a trivial issue.
Pankaj, enraged after being scolded by his mother, began physically attacking her. He kicked her in the abdomen, causing her to collapse onto the floor. He then continued to hit her on the face and tried to strangle her.
As per complaint, Mr. Roop Kumar intervened, but Pankaj assaulted him as well. Pankaj then grabbed a slipper and repeatedly hit his mother on the face, later using a stick to continue the attack.
Hearing the commotion, Mr. Roop Kumar’s daughter and son-in-law rushed to the scene, where they found Smti. Vidhyawathi bleeding from the nose and ears. The family quickly took her to PHC Ferrargunj, where doctors referred her to GB Pant Hospital due to her critical condition. Medical staff at the hospital confirmed that Vidhyawathi had sustained severe injuries and was in critical care. The police were notified, and a formal statement was recorded at the hospital. As per updated information, Pankaj Kumar, who fled the scene, was later arrested by team of PS Ograbraj and charged with assault.

 

Cyber Crime Police Station Strikes another Imposter

Port Blair, Sep 08: “The Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS) of Andaman & Nicobar Police has successfully solved another case by apprehending a suspect involved in cyber bullying of women.
The Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS) received a complaint about a Facebook profile being misused to send threatening messages. The suspect had manipulated images by attaching a nude body to the victim’s photo before sending them. Following the complaint, authorities initiated an investigation and through continuous surveillance, the suspect was tracked down and apprehended on September 6, 2024. During interrogation, the individual confessed to altering and uploading photos to threaten the victim.
The investigation was led by Inspr. Sahil Shamsuddin, SHO Cyber Crime Police Station with assistance of Inspr. Mohd. Sameer; SI Deva Raju, Head Constable: B.K. Singh, Constable’s Sangeeta Mazumder, Atish and Kayan Mohammed and Home Guard: Gyana Sekhar.
The entire investigation was closely monitored by Mr. Lakshay Pandey, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime under the direct supervision of Mr. Manjeet Sheoran, IPS, Superintendent of Police, CID.

Port Blair, Sep 06: On 27.08.2024, Mr. Tarun Kumar Mondal, Chief Judicial Magistrate, North and Middle Andaman District, Mayabunder, delivered a judgment in the PS Kalighat case, vide FIR No. 21/2023 U/s 20(b)(ii) A of the NDPS Act, 2012, convicting the accused, Lila Debi. The court’s decision to impose a sentence on Lila Debi reflects the seriousness of the offense and serves as a strong warning against such unacceptable acts. It sends a clear message to society that those who commit crimes will be held accountable and faces severe consequences for their actions.

PS Kalighat Cracks Theft Case within 24 Hours

Port Blair, Sept 03: On 02/09/2024, a resident of Srinagar, under the jurisdiction of PS Kalighat, reported the theft of his ATM card, which resulted in unauthorized withdrawals totalling ₹3,17,000/- from his bank account. The incident came to light when the victim attempted to withdraw cash and discovered that his ATM card was missing. Realizing the magnitude of the unauthorized transactions, the victim immediately reported the matter to PS Kalighat.
In response, a case of theft was promptly registered under the relevant sections of the BNS, 2023, at PS Kalighat. Under the leadership of SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO of PS Kalighat, a dedicated team was constituted, comprising SI M. J. Indrajit and PCs Subrato Biswas, Rippan, Hazarat Kumar, and Irenious. The team quickly swung into action, gathering inputs and conducting technical surveillance to identify the suspect.
Through their diligent efforts, the team successfully apprehended the culprit namely Sernu Ram S/o Late Amar Ram (31) yrs R/o Parangara, Kalighat, who confessed to the crime during interrogation. Within a mere 24 hours, the team recovered a significant portion of the stolen amount and other valuable articles from the accused. This swift and effective operation underscores the dedication and efficiency of PS Kalighat in safeguarding the rights and property of citizens.

Anti-Narcotics Police Station Executes Two Successful Operations, Seizes 1.245 Kg of Ganja

Port Blair, Sep 02: Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to combating drug-related activities, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station executed two targeted operations on August 30, 2024, resulting in significant seizures and arrests.
In the first operation, acting on specific intelligence, a team led by Insp. Pritam Behari (SHO, Anti-Narcotics) and including ASI Sanjay Yadav, PC Nanak Singh, PC Ratan Das, PC M. Raja Rao, and PC Vishal Kumar, recovered 850 Grams of Ganja from the RMS Parcel Hub, Postal Department, Port Blair. The Ganja was seized after observing all codal formalities.
In the second operation, another team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, also led by Insp. Pritam Behari and comprising SI Mohd Rahil Islam, PC Ratan Das, PC S. Nanak Singh, PC M. Raja Rao, PC Vishal Kumar, LPC Anjana Haldar, and LPC Nandita Mistry, conducted a raid at a private courier service company at Gurudwara Lane, Port Blair. During the raid, they recovered 495 Grams of Ganja hidden inside a geyser. The Ganja was seized after following all codal formalities. During further investigation, the suspects involved in this case were identified and arrested.
Both raids were conducted under the supervision of Mr. Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS, Dy.SP, Narcotics, and the overall supervision of Mr. Mohd. Irshad Haider, IPS, SP (CID), A&N Islands. Cases under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985 have been registered at the Anti-Narcotics Police Station and further investigations are currently under progress.

PS Rangat Successfully Intercepts Illegal Drug Transaction: 10 Grams of Methamphetamine Seizes, Accused Arrested

Port Blair, Sep 02: In a rapid and effective operation, PS Rangat successfully intercepted an illegal drug transaction based on reliable intelligence. Under the leadership of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS SDPO Rangat, a specialized team was promptly assembled. The team, led by SI Madhab Halder, SHO, PS Rangat including SI Abdul Sajeed, PCs K. Samir, Yashwant Rao and Sumitra Halder, along with two independent witnesses, moved swiftly to act on the information received.
Acting on a tip-off, that an individual namely Sanjeev Kumar Halder is in possession of illicit drug which he is trying to sell near transformer, janakpur, Rangat. Acting swiftly, the team positioned themselves discreetly near the spot. Shortly thereafter, the suspect was intercepted by the raiding team and conducted a search, resulting in the recovery of 10 gram of Methamphetamine drug from the possession of suspect namely Sanjeev Kumar Halder S/o Late Bharat Chandra Halder (42) yrs R/o Bhatubasti, Port Blair, now at Rangat. Following thorough interrogation, the accused person confessed to his crime. Subsequently, the accused was arrested and a case was registered at PS Rangat under the NDPS Act.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat and overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.

Senior Citizen Arrested in Major Drug Bust in Shantipur area of Middle Andaman

Shantipur, Middle Andaman, Aug 20: In a major breakthrough, the Central Crime Station (CCS) unit of the Andaman Police arrested a senior citizen, Mr. Kiran Halder, in connection with a large-scale Heroin seizure in the Shantipur area under Swadesh Nagar Panchayat, Middle Andaman. The operation, which took place this morning, led to the confiscation of 410 grams of Heroin, it is learnt.

According to initial inputs, the drugs were initially discovered by Mr. Kiran Halder’s son, Mr. Kishor Halder, along the seashore near Cuthbert Bay area of Middle Andaman. It is alleged that Mr. Kishor Halder had previously sold nearly 500 grams of heroin in Port Blair, and the CCS unit recently arrested an individual in connection with that transaction.

The investigation into the Port Blair incident provided crucial information that led the CCS unit to Swadesh Nagar. Acting on this intelligence, the team apprehended Mr. Kiran Halder while he was allegedly handing over a parcel containing 410 grams of Heroin to a prospective buyer.

As per sources, Mr. Kishor Halder, the primary suspect in the case, had instructed his father to deliver the parcel to the buyer while he was away on business in Cuthbert Bay. However, the CCS unit intervened and arrested Mr. Kiran Halder during the handover. The CCS unit is currently conducting an intensive search for Mr. Kishor Halder. Further details are awaited.

 

DGP, A&N Islands inaugurates Model Interrogation Room & inspects Model Barracks & state-of-the-art mess

Port Blair, Aug 08: Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N Islands, on his visit to North & Middle Andaman District had inaugurated the newly established “Model Interrogation Room” at Police Station Mayabunder on 07/08/2024. This marks a significant step towards enhancing the infrastructure and efficiency of the police in the region.
The Model Interrogation Room is equipped with the latest technology and facilities, ensuring a secure and conducive environment for investigative procedures. It is a big step forward in our commitment to enhance security & efficiency. The DGP has also visited the Model Barrackand newly FSSAI certified Mess at PS Mayabunder, both of which are integral to the well-being and morale of the police personnel. The Model Barracks offers comfortable and hygienic accommodation with all essential gadgets for a comfortable life for police personnel, while the FSSAI-certified mess guarantees that nutritious and safe meals are provided, adhering to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
