Port Blair, June 22: Based on a credible information, on 22/06/21 the police team of PS Humfrigunj comprising with SI Anik Das, SHO PS Humfrigunj, HC/762 Abdul Bashir, HC/2336 Bijoy Sarkar, PC/2647 Aurangzed, PC/1102 Shanker Aind, PC/2915 Sabraj Mohd., PC/1224 Akbar Ali, PC/2736 Nisha Kujur and PC(D)/3042 Periyaswamy conducted raid at the rented room of Pankaj Poddar S/o- Mr. Mahananda Poddar (30) yrs, Private worker R/o- Bharatpur, Shaheed Dweep presently at Memyo, Wandoor and recovered 02 Nos. brown packing tape cover containing 1.025 and 0.580 Kgs of illicit ganja. A total of 1.605 Kg of ganja has been recovered from the possession of Pankaj Poddar.
Subsequently, an FIR is registered at PS Humfrigunj against Pankaj Poddar and the further investigation is under progress.
One Arrested from Kadamtala for impregnating Minor Girl

Port Blair, June 22: Yesterday a minor girl aged 17 years, went to a PHC in Middle Andaman recently for medical treatment on feeling unwell. During the Heath checkup the doctor found the girl pregnant by two and a half month.
Consequently the matter was reported to the PS Kadamtala and a Lady Sub Inspector was deputed from PS Rangat to investigate the matter and to do the needful in this regard immediately.
The Lady Inspector investigated the matter and arrested the accused a resident of Kadamtala, aged 25 years. The accused was produced before the Honb’le CJM Court at Mayabunder and from there the accused has sent for 14 days Judicial Custody.
It is learnt from sources that two years back the same girl was pregnant and same accused was arrested by PS Aberdeen. The POCSO case of two years back is still pending, it is learnt.
Large Scale Raids Continues in North and Middle Andaman region against bootlegging

Port Blair, June 21: Bars and wine shops have been closed for some time and this is the time when bootleggers and Rice Beer makers are trying to take advantage.
Keeping this in mind, the district police of North and Middle Andaman has increased the vigil over habitual bootleggers and is continuously conducting raids and jungle searches.
Although the police stations are already stretched for resources because of the enforcement of ongoing COVID restrictions and deployment of additional staff for patrolling in Jarawa Reserve areas, it has not deterred them for this important aspect, as bootlegging and illicit liquor is an area which may have implications on public health and general crime scenario.
In this year 2021 large amount of illicit liquor was seized and large number of lahens were destroyed by three Police Stations viz Diglipur, Kalighat and Mayabunder.
As per information in 2021 till date PS Diglipur has recovered 65Kgs illicit Rice Beer, 40.88 ltr illicit liquor, 186 Nos. 180ML IMFL Bottles, 14 Nos. 375 ML IMFL Bottles, 47 Nos. 750 ML IMFL bottles and 2.6 liter loose IMFL bottles. Other than this around many Lehans were destroyed.
Similarly the Police Station Khalighat recovered 18 Kgs illicit Rice Beer, 2.75 ltrs illicit liquor, 18 Nos. 180ML IMFL Bottles, 14 Nos. 375 ML IMFL Bottles, 02 Nos. 750 ML IMFL bottles and 1.8 liter loose IMFL bottles. Other than this many Lehans were destroyed.
The Police Station Mayabunder recovered 99 Kgs illicit Rice Beer, 05 ltr illicit liquor, 11 Nos. 180ML IMFL Bottles, 11 Nos. 750 ML IMFL bottles and 1.3 liter loose IMFL bottle. In this case also may Lehans were destroyed.
The entire operation was headed by Inspector Stalin SHO Police Station Diglipur, Inspector Usman Ali, SHO Mayabunder and Sub Inspector Suresh Kumar SHO Khalighat. The operations were monitored by SDPO, Mr. RK Sharma and the entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Vichitra Veer, IPS Superintendent of Police, N&MA.
Wildlife offence detected by Mobile Squad team of Middle Andaman Forest Division
Port Blair, June 18: On 17/06/2021 at about 0600 hrs, the team of AFEVS unit consisting of Mr S P Roy Deputy Ranger, Mr M Shabbir forest guard, Mr Basant Lall forest guard along with six mazdoors Mr Kaushik Vaishnab, Mr N. Azhagu, Mr. M. Panchavarnam, Mr Anup Mistry, Mr. Ranjan Haldar & Mr. Ashrafuddin on on a tip off went for patrolling to Western coast of Kausalya nagar RF area, under Urmilapur Panchayat & Range jurisdiction of Bakultala & following the foot prints & some other identification marks which indicates illegal trespass into the RF by some unknown persons, the forest team spread inside the RF to trap the suspected accused & about 1030 hrs the team detected four suspected persons carrying some bags coming out of the reserved forest and the forest officials chased them & get hold of two suspect, out of four as the other two suspects manage to flee from the spot taking the advantage of heavy rain and after a massive search the other two absconding suspects could not be traced out & as such the two accused were arrested on the spot with head portion, fat & liver of Andaman wild pig which were seized on the spot from the possession of the accused who disclosed their name as Mr Romanus Dhanwar S/o No as Dhanwar and Mr. Budhadev Sikari S/o Late Prafulya Sikari. The forest officials Seized the wildlife produce & arrested the accused persons on the spot.
On further investigation/interrogation the names of the other two Co-accused were disclosed as Mr. Pradeep Dhanwar S/o No as Dhanwar and Mr William Kaschap S/o Late Somra Munda as revealed by the arrested accused in their statement. All the accused persons are residents of Kalsi village. Further the two arrested accused reveals that alongwith the other two person they went inside the RF at 0500 hrs on 16.06.2021to lay trap and stayed inside the RF over night and on 17.06.2021 morning they noticed an Andaman wild pig got trapped. They killed the wild pig, removed the skin & cut into pieces in the forest and put it in bags to carry. The weight of the seized wild life produce recorded as 5.5 Kilograms by the investigating team.
Since the accused were caught red handed while trespassing the Reserved forest & hunting wild animal & as such they have been booked under the relevant sections of IFA 1927 & Wildlife Protection Act 1972 for committing an offence as per law & after following all codal formalities the arrested accused persons along with seized materials and case related documents in original were handed over to Range Officer Bakultala from where the accused were produced before the CJM in the Court of CJM Mayabunder, from where the accused were remanded to Judicial custody for 14 days.
The entire operation took place under the guidance of Mr. Vijay Kishen, Forest Ranger Mobile Squad Rangat & under overall direction and supervision of Mr. Satyaprakash Singh, IFS Divisional Forest Officer, Middle Andaman Forest Division.
Middle Andaman Forest Division has zero tolerance against any offence related to Wildlife or Forest and any other anti-social activities which prevails in the Reserved Forest area/Protected areas.

Fight against illegal sale of liquor and Rice Beer; 11 arrested by PS Baratang Team
Port Blair, June 17: The staff of Police Station Baratang led by SHO, PS Baratang, under the supervision of SDPO, Rangat & overall supervision of SP(D) N&M Andaman conducted special raids during lock down in the jurisdiction of Police Station Baratang to completely eradicate the illegal sale of liquor/illicit handia (Rice Beer), resulting which they succeeded to recover 124 Kg of illicit Hanida & 03 Nos. IMFL bottles as a result 11 accused persons have been arrested out of which 05 accused persons have been booked u/s 110(g) Cr.P.C. for their repeated offence. The District Police of North & Middle Andaman is adopting zero tolerance policy to completely eradicate the illegal sale of liquor in the jurisdiction of Police Station Baratang.

Massive Jungle Search by PS Rangat
Port Blair, June 17: Today a massive jungle search was conducted under the command of Inspector Mr. Pritam Behari, SHO and his team of PS Rangat under the very close supervision of Mr. Vichitra Veer, IPS, SP NMA and with the direction of Mr. Hukma Ram, DySP, Rangat Sub division.
During this search total 12 tins fully fermented Lahan containing approximately 180 Liters and 05 empty tins and 03 Bhatti have been recovered in the jungle of Shyamkund village at Bakultala area under Rangat Tehsil. All the recovered Lahan, articles and 3 Bhatties have been destroyed on the spot.
Women and social workers of the region have lauded the efforts of PS Rangat.
29 pieces of Padauk Timber Seized from Port Mout Area
Port Blair, June 16: On 14 June 2021 night, an information received in Police Station Ograbraj about storage of illegal Hand Sawn Timber in a house of Port Mout area, where immediately police team reached and conducted a search. During the search the team found about 0.466 cbm (29 pieces) of hand sawn timber (Padauk).
The matter was immediately intimated to Forest Range office Tushnabad, upon which the forest team reached the spot and inquired about valid documents bill with the accused Mr. Harjeet Singh but as he failed to produce any valid documents for the timber. He was arrested for violation of the provisions of Indian Forest Act, 1927 and later released on bail.
Dignabad resident arrested for attacking his nephew with knife

Port Blair, June 15: A resident of Dignabad was arrested by PS Aberdeen yesterday for attacking his own nephew with a knife.
According to reports the accused Mr. Elango, 56 years, had a quarrel yesterday late afternoon with a lady, who is his neighbor.
Sources said that the nephew of Mr. Elango, Mr. Kartick intervened and tried to take Mr. Elango inside his house. On this, Mr. Elango reportedly lost control over his anger and attacked his own nephew with a knife.
Mr. Kartick reportedly sustained minor injuries on his chest. On complaint an assault case was registered against Mr. Elango and he was arrested. Further details are awaited.
Police destroys Large Stocks of Lahan in Kishorinagar Jungle
Port Blair, June 15: Based on the inputs that due to stringent action by the police against illicit liquor, some people might have shifted their fermentation setup in the jungle areas, teams led by SI Suresh (SHO/Kalighat) have been conducting search in the jungle areas of OP Kishorinagar. In such search operations, police has found and destroyed about 1000 litres of Lahan in last 3 days. The police officers are aware of the fact that any delay in action on the information about such activities may lead to supply of illicit liquor to the public, that is why the search is being continued even though the weather is not good.
The police officers are also making appeal to general public not to buy or consume such illicit liquor and inform the nearest police station if someone around them is involved in such activities.
One Arrested from Swaraj Dweep under POCSO Act

Port Blair, June 13: On 11 June 2021, a police team of PS Swaraj Dweep arrested a 22 year old resident of Shyam Nagar private worker under POCSO Act for allegedly impregnating a minor girl after making forceful physical relationship. Recently when the 17 year minor girl went to nearby hospital for treatment, doctors found her pregnant, following which the matter was reported to police.
