Port Blair, Oct 28: The Directorate of Social Welfare, Andaman and Nicobar Administration organized a programme on “Sakhi-One Stop Centre” on Wednesday to support women affected by violence. The Centre offers a range of services under one roof at Ward No 4 in Govt. Sr Sec School, Mohanpura. There are one such ‘One Stop Centres’ in each district of these islands. The programme held in the presence of S.Bhawani, Vice Principal, Mohanpura Sr Sec School.
Smti. Shanti Murugesan, Central Administrator OSC, Social Welfare briefed the gathering on the objectives of the Centre. Smt Namrata, Lawyer, generated awareness on cyber crimes against women.
The program was mainly undertaken with the support of social workers/NGOs etc. of Ward No 4. TVF president Smti Tabassum Nisha Ali addressed the gathering and asked students and parents to follow the directions given on anti-domestic violence and cyber crime.
Meenal Rajan, Lawyer welcomed the gathering, while Bhagya Raj, staff of DHS dept and an alumni of the school proposed the vote of thanks.
