Port Blair, Sept 29: In order to ensure 100% COVID vaccination to the eligible population of South Andaman, the District Administration conducted vaccination camp at Wandoor Community hall in coordination with Health department and NGOs Rotary Club International &Rotary Club Next Gen.
Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman along with Sub Divisional Magistrate and Asst. Commissioner (U/T) visited vaccination camp and urged the people to vaccinate themselves and their near & dear ones to contain the corona virus. He said that 100% vaccination is the effective tool to fight against COVID pandemic.
The Deputy Commissioner/ Chairman, District Health Society, South Andaman also informed that active Tuberculosis (TB) case finding survey is being conducted at various Health & Wellness Centers, vaccination centers and also in construction sites and at community halls.
As a part of active TB case finding survey, a team of District NTEP has conducted screening at District Jail, Prothrapur. Further, the target to screen all employees of hoteliers of SwarajDweephas also been completed.All together 228 prisoners of District jail and 595 hoteliers of SwarajDweepwere screened out of which 9 suspects sample have been collected for further examinationto make sure that if any TB suspect cases are identified, they are followed up and if found positive, treatment is initiated to eliminate TB from the District.
The DC (SA) urged the general public of South Andaman to cooperate with the field staff during the TB survey and also directed all contractors of construction site to do TB screening of their labours, if there are any suspected cases, they may get tested at nearest health centres and are requested to contact District TB unit, GB Pant hospital or District Health Society, DC Office (SA) for any assistance for TB screening or testing to achieve the goal of TB eradication by 2025.
