I extend my warm greetings to all Islanders and especially all stakeholders attached to Andaman Tourism. This day is very significant and is also marked by UNWTO hashtags as #RestartTourism and #WorldTourismDay for the restart of tourism which will help kickstart recovery and growth. It is essential that the benefits this will bring are enjoyed widely and fairly. UNWTO has therefore designated World Tourism Day 2021 as a day to focus on Tourism for Inclusive Growth. UNWTO celebrated the first World Tourism Day as an international observance on September 27, 1980. The purpose of World Tourism Day is to raise awareness on the importance of tourism in affecting the social, cultural, political and economic values of the international community.
The Covid-19 pandemic was a hard hit to the community across the globe and especially in Andamans where tourism is supposed to be a prime business not only to survive but also for mutual growth of people and the asserts. After the gradual re-start of Andaman Tourism, now it would slowly benefit the people associated again and I hope we would soon overcome the hit and revive.
Therefore on this day we have pledged for Responsible & Sustainable Andaman Tourism.
I wish and hope a very fruitful season ahead to all the stakeholders of Andaman Tourism.
