Port Blair, Aug 24: The Army Component celebrated Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Week culminating on AWWA Day on 23 Aug 2021 at Birchgunj Military Station with great fervour and enthusiasm. A series of events including webinars on miscellaneous topics, Yoga sessions, visit to Cellular Jail and Samudrika museum, in-house competitions and screening of educational movies were organised for the families of the component during the week.
Mrs Deepti Singh, Regional President, DWWA, Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) was the Chief Guest at a function held to commemorate the 55th AWWA Day at Likabali Auditorium, Birchgunj and was received by Mrs Amarjit Nagyal, Chairperson, AWWA, ANC.
While addressing the leadis and families of the Army Component, Mrs Deepti Singh congratulated them and stressed upon the importance of AWWA which has always stood with the men in uniform, their families and dependents in difficult times and has been making a difference to the society in their own unique way.
From providing young entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their talents, establishing schools for children with special needs and battling with the COVID-19 pandemic, AWWA has always been active on multiple fronts. She also congratulated all ladies and families of the Army Component for actively contributing towards the welfare activities of ANC. All the events were strictly conducted according to COVID-19 protocol.
