Port Blair, Aug 23: Lack of bus service between Port Blair and Nimbudera area has brought bagful of troubles for people of the region. Resident of Nimbudera alleged that the Nimbudera Express Bus used to be lifeline for people of the region and there used to be heavy rush for tickets all the time. After suspension of the bus service people of the region are forced to opt for private vehicles, which charges exorbitant amount from passengers, which many can’t afford.
When contacted over phone Mr. Om Dhole, the Director of Transport Department told Andaman Sheekha that the STS bus services in many routes were suspended because of pandemic, but he assured that soon the STS Bus Services will be resumed after considering all aspects.
“Due to COVID-19, limited and restricted numbers of buses are being operated, soon we will examine this matter and normalize the bus services,” he pointed out.
He assured that within this week the Nimbudera Express bus service will be resumed on priority basis keeping in view the public interest.
