Port Blair, Aug 23: ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ is a tribute to the national war heroes who fought valiantly during the 1971 war displaying the highest standards of professionalism and scripted a golden chapter in the history of modern India. As part ofthe50th year celebrations in the Andaman and Nicobar Command, the ‘Victory Flame’, on its voyage to the Nicobar Group of Islands, reached Indira Point, the Southernmost tip of the Nation, on22nd August 21.
The journey of the Flame, North to South, spanning the entire Andaman and Nicobar chain of Islands commemorates the spirit of Swarnim Vijay Varsh.
As part of the events, Armed Forces personnel from Andaman and Nicobar Command hoisted the tricolor and collected virtuous soil from the location. The Victory Flame now begins its journey back to Port Blair for a befitting farewell for its onward journey to the mainland.
