Port Blair, Aug 22: The Member of Parliament, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan with inmates of Pranab Kanya Ashram, Delanipur here today.
Children tied Rakhi on MP’s wrist and interacted with him. After tying the knot of love, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma distributed gifts to all children. Mr. Sharma celebrates Raksha Bandan every year at this orphanage.
Further, he inquired about their educational and other needs. He was contented to celebrate the festival with these beautiful children and assured that government would ensure a safe and secure environment to these children enabling them to become successful in life.
Delivering the keynote address, the MP spoke about the festival and it’s symbolism as reflected in the teachings of the Gita. “The festival of Raksha Bandhan reminds us of our duty to protect our loved ones” he said.
