Port Blair, Aug 04: A major part of New Bimblitan and some parts of Old Bimblitan area remain totally out of BSNL mobile network since last nearby five months causing huge inconvenience to the villagers.
When contacted Mr. Raj Govind, former Zilla Parishad member of the region told Andaman Sheekha Daily that BSNL tower of the area got damaged several months back but even after repeated complaints by villagers the tower was not reinstalled yet, which led to this situation.
The only relief is that some parts of the villages get Airtel network and hence many people have already migrated to Airtel but those who can’t afford two SIMs are still waiting for BSNL network.
When contacted by this reporter, Mr. Murali Krishna the Chief Geneal Manager of BSNL A&N Circle said that the telecom tower at Bimblitan area is totally damaged and can’t be re-used.
“We have to set a new telecom tower at roof top, for which a roof top area or building is being searched,” he added.
He further informed that they have also asked the Rural Development Department for help and after the rooftop area is found ,a new BSNL tower will be placed within a month.
