Port Blair, Jul 29: Mr. Abdul Siddiqui Ex-Pramukh of Mayabunder has demanded to resume Bus services from Port Blair to Mayabunder.
In his letter addressed to Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, the Deputy Commissioner North and Middle Andaman District, the Ex-Pramukh said that relaxation has been given in lockdowns by Administration because of which people are traveling from Port Blair to North and Middle Andaman and vice versa, for various works. He added that for the journey people from economically weaker sections are facing problems as they are unable to pay for private cab fares.
“It has been seen that nearly daily private cabs are given permission from DC, South Andaman to move to N&M Andaman. These private cabs are allowed to carry passengers to N&M Andaman. These passengers are charged Rs2000/- to Rs 3000/- per head as per their destination to N&M Andaman from Rangat to Diglipur,” he added.
Sadly, those who are not able to pay the huge amount of charges to these private cab services are stranded at Port Blair.
Hence he urged to resume STS express bus service following all SOP and guidelines of pandemic Covid – 19.
