Port Blair, July 11: Mr. Y Sajeevan, President of Andaman and Nicobar Teachers’ Association has written a letter to Director of Education and hoped that the Education Department will instruct the teachers a few days in advance to plan their journey back to their place of posting, if administration decides to reopen the government schools, amidst pandemic situation.
In his letter the President of ANTA pointed out that considering the prevailing pandemic situation, the A & N Administration had earlier decided to allow the teachers of the UT to report for duty after the last day of Summer Vacation from wherever they were within the boundaries of the islands through online mode and continue to work from home with academic activities through social media platform or other means as they could afford and further decided to continue with the closure of schools for two weeks with effect from 30th June, 2021.
“I sincerely hope that upon the situation falling back to normal the Inter Island transport facilities (ships for the Southern group of Islands and public transport on NH4) shall resume, should the administration decide to reopen the government schools, the Directorate of Education would instruct the teachers a few days in advance to physically report for duty at their respective places of postings. This would enable them to make necessary arrangements to move back to their respective places of postings viz, RT-PCR test journey, quarantine etc,” Mr. Sajeevan added to his letter.
