Port Blair, June 18: Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, District Magistrate (SA) along with his team made a visit to Little Andaman to tackle the prevailing COVID situation.
The Director (RD) and a Dy.SP ranked officer has been deputed to ensure strict monitoring of containment zone in the island and also a community medicine expert is assigned to address the health care requirements of COVID patients in Little Andaman.
The team of officers led by Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, District Magistrate (SA) consisted of SDM (SA), AC(U/T), Director (Health), Director (RD) and Dy.SP.In the course of the visit, team inspected the PHC Hutbay and PHC RK Pur.
They also inspected the mechanism of enforcement in containment zones and officers were directed to enforce strictly. The DM (SA) interacted with doctors and staff of hospitals and inquired about the prevailing situation.
He welcomed the suggestions of PRIs and public in managing COVID situation. He assured all arrangements required for home delivery of essential supplies will be made in order to reduce movement of general public.
In a special effort to bring down cases in Little Andaman,District Administration has stationed Director (RD) and Dy.SP for the strict monitoring of containment measures.
DM (SA) directed them to pro-actively address the COVID situation effectively in Little Andaman. He further instructed the officials to ensure a mechanism for home delivery of essential commodities and ensure no inconvenience is caused to the general public.
A community medical expert is also posted to supplement the existing medical team and therapeutically address the COVID situation. He has been directed to co-ordinate with doctors and medical staff.
DM (SA) directed them to continue filed surveillance of ILI/SARI cases and also monitor SPO2 levels by distributing pulse oximeters to symptomatic patients. Additional medicines required for COVID treatment were also delivered to Little Andaman during the visit.
The DM (SA) has reiterated that the efforts of the District Administration will continue till COVID-19 is eliminated from the District and for this he sought the active support, co-operation and coordination of the general public, PRIs, doctors and line departments.
