Port Blair, June 10: In a shocking development as many as 21 people have been tested positive at Little Andaman today, while conducting RAT on passengers, willing to come to Port Blair tomorrow in MV Kalighat from Hut Bay.
As per details RAT was conducted at R K Pur and Hut Bay areas of Little Andaman today on Islanders of respective areas, who wanted to avail the sailing of MV Kalighat to Port Blair from Hut Bay tomorrow morning and out of these people, 15 people from RK Pur village of Little Andaman and 6 people from Hut Bay were tested positive.
While some people have been isolated in their houses some have been shifted to Covid Care Centers.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that two other people have been admitted in RK Pur PHC and they have low SpO2 level. Doctors are reportedly waiting for permission to conduct COVID-19 test on these two patients, although treatment as per protocol has been started.
This news has now triggered a ripple in entire Little Andaman region and also in Port Blair, as since evening various messages showing different number of COVID-19 patients are being spread in social media platforms by people, creating panic.
A top official told Andaman Sheekha that it is still not clear whether passengers who were tested negative will be allowed to board the ship MV Kalighat tomorrow for traveling to Port Blair.
Many prominent Islanders of Little Andaman are now demanding massive testing at Little Andaman in different pockets to understand the magnitude of spread of COVID-19 virus in the Island before more and more people reach nearby PHC with breathing problems.
Till now the Administration has been successful in containing the spread of virus in Port Blair and nearby areas and there is visible decline in COVID-19 cases here but things seems to have gone out of control in Little Andaman.
