Port Blair, May 27: The South Andaman District Commissioner, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, today said that the Administration is restlessly working to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus and urged the COVID-19 positive patients to disclose their SPO2 and other medical parameters to authorities.
“Until unless they don’t disclose such details, we are not God to imagine what is their SPO2 level, we have requesting this to public and this is minimum we expect from COVID-19 positive people,” he said.
Addressing COVID-19 media briefing in the conference hall of IP&T today the DC added that administration has started RTPCR Test for arriving passengers at Port Blair Airport.
He informed that today total three flights with 236 passengers landed at the Airport, and all passengers had gone under RT-PCR test and total 23 persons (travelers) bound for N&M Andaman were tested at Ferrargunj and none of them were found COVID-19 positive. Results of today’s flight passengers are awaited.
The DC further pointed out that yesterday (Wednesday) among 283 passengers, 12 passengers were found COVID-19 positive in RTPCR test.
“After results immediately these COVID-19 positive people were isolated and home quarantine. Medicines were distributed to them and continuous follow up were done. We are supplying pulse oximeter to each and every one from District Administration and almost twice a day we are monitoring their SPO2 levels along with other medical parameters,” Mr. Suneel Anchipaka added.
The Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman also mentioned that administration is also conducting mobile RAT in South Andaman District. The mobile RAT team is conducting RAT test of symptomatic and ILI/SARI/suspected cases in the entire south Andaman district regarding this, the mobile teams today conducted tests at Rangachang, Burmanallah, Kodiyaghat and Chidyatapu. “We trying to collect almost 100 samples per day,” he added.
About vaccination drive, the DC informed that today altogether 348 eligible beneficiaries got vaccinated among which 310 beneficiaries of age group above 18-44 year old got their first dose of vaccine.
The Deputy Director of Health Department, Dr. Amitabh De informed that 12 new COVID patients were admitted today in G.B. Pant Hospital and 08 patients got discharged. With this, the number of corona positive patients in Hospital is 71. Out of the 71 patients, 61 are on Oxygen support and 05 are on ventilator.
Dr. Amitabh De further said that today no new patients were admitted at COVID Care Centers whereas 03 patients got discharged and the number of patients in the COVID Care Centers is 22. At Wimberlygunj COVID Care Center no new admission is reported and 01 patient got discharge, at present 06 patients is admitted till date.
