Port Blair, Oct 25: Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, Pradesh Congress Committee has requested the Honble Minister of Communication and IT Mr Kapil Sibal to consider increasing of satellite band connectivity for these islands so that the common people of these islands can be able to use the facilities of communications properly.
In a letter addressed to Minister of Communication and IT, Mr Sharma stated that due to poor satellite band connectivity, the people of these islands are unable to use their broad band connections and also mobile phone connections. “The people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands who are staying at far flung and cut off areas from mainland are suffering very badly due to non availability of proper satellite connectivity with mainland and within the islands which is the main source of getting connected with their near and dear ones and also for other important works,” Mr Sharma added.
Mr Sharma also stated the Minister of Communication and IT that a proposal for installation of 40 numbers BSNL towers with required equipments at remote islands was sent to him for his consideration and approval about three years back and in case the Honble Minister accords his valued approval, then these towers can be installed at various remote places of Andaman and Nicobar Islands so that the people may get easy connectivity.
