Kadamtala, Apr 20: Vehicle Ferries operating between Gandhi Ghat Jetty and Kadamtala today could not start their services from 4. 30 AM due to the formation of thick fog over Humphery Strait.
Due to poor visibility, the vehicle ferries had to wait for nearly one hour, causing huge jam at Kadamtala Jetty by vehicles, travelling towards Middle Strait for first convoy at 6.30 AM.
As per details finally by 5.30 AM when the fog disappeared the vehicle ferry started operation and because of this large number of vehicles reached Middle Strait very late and hence after taking special permission from Tribal Welfare Department, the first convoy from Middle Strait was allowed at 7.05 AM, it is reported.
Public complained that because of the new timing such problems are being faced by general public of N & M Andaman and ATR Commuters.
