Campbell Bay, Mar 09: A forest fire has been reported from 28 KM area, nearby of most populated village Gandhinagar, of Great Nicobar Island. The fire have been seen and reported by the villagers but the cause of the fire is still not known.
The Fire Service reportedly got the information about the forest fire at around 7:00 PM today.
Responding immediately firefighters reached the spot in no time. Staffs of Forest Department also reached the spot to help fire fighters, it is reported.
As per last input, which poured in at 9.00 PM, the Fire Service personnel and Forest Staffs were able to bring the fire under control, which is a news of great relief for people living in nearby villages. Further details are awaited.
