Port Blair, Feb 22: Badminton Team Championship 2021, for Dairy Farm Village was organised by the Youth of Dairy Farm in collaboration with Badminton Association of Andaman & Nicobar Islands (BAANI) at Dairy Farm Badminton Court on 20th & 21st February. All safety norms for COVID were adhered during the entire tournament.
Altogether 8 teams participated in the tournament. Team Yashwant defeated Team Janaki in a breathtaking match by 2-1 to clinch the Championship title. The Chief Guest of the Closing ceremony was Mr. G. Bhasker, Patron of (BAANI) who gave away the prizes, Medals and Cash Prizes to the winners and runners up of the tournament.
The Chief Guest lauded the efforts of BAANI for promoting the game of Badminton in the islands and urged to strive for the better prospects of the game in future all across the islands. Mr. Y. Sajeevan, Gen Secretary, BAANI spoke about the vision of BAANI, an organisation which is genuinely promoting the game of Badminton in the Andaman Nicobar Islands. He appreciated the youth of Dairy Farm for their enthusiasm and zeal and asked them to take part in more and more tournaments to improve their skills.
