Campbell Bay, Apr 26: On the information from reliable sources of sighting of poachers near the stretch of Macachua and Afra Bay areas, a police party consisting of 11 staffs lead by SHO P.S. Campbell Bay, Mr. Subramani began an operation to search the poachers along with the medical team lead by Dr. Ambedkar because of the threat of COVID-19. The search is being conducted with the help of MV Shompen.
Meanwhile the local administration is making arrangements to quarantine the poachers, if they are caught.
It is learnt that a small boat from INS Kardip may reach the stretch of Macachua and Afra Bay to conduct a search operation.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that some Nicobari residents of the area might have come in contact with these poachers, when they approached the Tribal people for fuel.
Sources said all 19 Nicobari Tribals will be quarantined in Community Hall of Campbell Bay tomorrow and their samples will be sent to Port Blair for COVID19 test via helicopter.
