Port Blair, Apr 02: Rajasthan Manch, Port Blair has started a community kitchen service and is distributing cooked food to the people affected by lockdown for Covid-19. On 31/03/2020 almost 1000 meals were distributed at different places of the city, out of which about 400 people were served food during lunch hour and about 600 people were served dinner. The areas covered are Dollygunj, Bhatu basti, Sippighat, Junglighat, Golghar, Nayasahar, Shadipur, Mazar pahad where the migrant workers are generally staying and Pranab kanya Sangh inmates also at Delanipur.
According to the President Mr. P.L. Modi of Rajasthan Manch, the response to their initiative to feed needy people during the lockdown was overwhelming. They are gearing up to scale up their service and have successfully served 750 Lunch and 950 Dinner on 01/04/2020 with extension of areas covered including Garacharma & Minnie bay. Today around 740 were given lunch, dinner will also be served tonight. Their present plan is to continue this service till lockdown deadline. He further added that they are taking special care on hygiene & social distancing. The food is prepared at a FSSAI approved centre.
