Mayabunder, Mar 27: As a mark of precaution in the wake of the threat from COVID-19, the District Administration, North & Middle Andaman is taking initiatives to supply essential commodities to doorstep of the general public. The requirement of the household may be conveyed to the respective vendors through sms, watsapp, and phone calls at the numbers listed here. The groceries shall be delivered at doorsteps by the respective vendors within 24 hours, subject to their availability. The service has started from today (March 27).
The whole distribution process shall be supervised by the District Administration to make it seamless and hassle free. People are strictly advised to remain confined to their homes and do not come out whatsoever for collecting their ration.
Shop vendors and the delivery boys have been advised to maintain social distancing while supplying the items and use prescribed personal hygiene methods to check the spread of virus.

The Administration also endeavors to supply essential supplies at the door steps in the far-flung places and in villages falling into the network shadow areas. The same shall be done in three variants of fixed packets (subject to their availability). They are:

Packet II: Potato 02 Kg; Onion 01 Kg; Tomato 500 Gm; Green Chilli 100 Gm; Garlic 100 Gm; Seasonal Vegetable 01 Kg
Packet III: Rice 05 Kg
The above identified vendors are directed to engage a minimum number of staff and the vehicle that may be needed to execute the whole process smoothly. The operation shall continue round the clock.
