Port Blair, March 26: MV Pearl a tourist boat docked in the Junglighat Jetty for the last two years sank at around 10:30 am today.
As per reports, due to the lockdown following the COVID-19 issue in the Islands, the boat remained unattended by their crews following which water that entered inside the boat was not pumped out, which resulted in the incident.
Also, the owner and their crews got permission too late in the evening to come out and rescue the boat from sinking.
However, after the permission was granted the crews immediately rushed the boat at around 03:00 pm and cut the rope of the other boats tied with MV Pearl, which saved other boats from sinking. MV Pearl is said to be 80 tonnes in weight.
