Mayabunder, March 25: The Ex- Pramukh, Mayabunder, Mr. Abdul Siddique has alleged that the District Administration of Mayabunder, has not made any arrangements and has just imposed conditions and restrictions among the residents of the Islands following COVID- 19 impact.
In a letter addressed to the District Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman District, Mr. Abdul stated that LPG, Rice, Salt, Dal, cooking oil and basic commodities that one uses in his daily life is not available in the market after the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Damodhar Das Modi has announced 21 days lockdown in the country.
“Though the PM addressed that the UT government will take care of the essential commodities are available for people but sorry to say, there is an acute shortage of basic commodities here in Mayabunder,” stated Mr. Siddique.
Mr. Siddique further stated that if this remains the condition, what the people of this far-flung Islands will do that too without any proper connectivity? Questioned Mr. Siddique.
“What is the District Administration planning to do for the people from poor background who fulfill their needs by earning on a daily basis, what arrangements have been done to provide essential commodities at the doorsteps as the public is not allowed to step out?” Mr. Siddique further questioned.
Mr. Siddique finally stated that the people of Mayabunder are willing to obey the orders of Prime Minister and are ready to go for 21 days lockdown in their houses to fight against the pandemic COVID-19 virus and people are also ready to volunteer if the administration requires any manpower support but a humble request is to make the food articles available for the residents to their doorsteps.
