Port Blair, March 24: Residents of Middle Andaman are going through a horrible time because of no connectivity of BSNL mobile services since the last four days. According to residents, the BSNL is doing deliberate delay to repair the problem and pointing the finger at NHIDCL for the flaw.
“At this time where everybody wants to be updated with the COVID-19 issue, so that proper precautions can be taken, the residents of Middle Andaman don’t have any knowledge about it as they are entirely disconnected from the world.
“BSNL’s broadband was not working in our area (Kadamtala) for the last four months and since last four days even the mobile connectivity has gone,” said Mr. Sampad Kumar Roy, Ex- Pradhan, Kadamtala Gram Panchayat.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the Chief General Manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Murali Krishna, he said that the BSNL has complete knowledge about the issues the people are facing in the North and Middle Andaman.
He said that there is a cable cut issue in the region due to road work done by NHIDCL and because the department doesn’t have enough fuel to transport their staffs to the region there is a delay in rectifying the problem.
“We have already communicated in written to the District Commissioner, South Andaman to issue us petrol/ Diesel and once we get the approval we will immediately send our staffs in the region to rectify the problem,” said Mr. Krishna.
