Port Blair, Mar 23: The A&N Administration is fully dedicated to the cause of public health safety and has taken vigorous steps in view of the threat of COVID-19. The A&N Administration has issued several instructions in view of the directives and advisories issued by GoI for social distancing, full truthful disclosure of information of travel history or knowledge of contact with any known case of corona virus and for strict observation of home isolation where ever required.
The Administration is determined to take all necessary steps to take stringent action against those flouting such directions. In one such incident reported from Lamba Line, Port Blair a 62 years old resident is known to have concealed his travel history to USA. Such irresponsible act can endanger the health and life and several others which is a punishable offence. Hence, the resident has been booked under Section 188, 269, 271 and 455 of the Indian Penal Code for his disobedience of orders promulgated by the Administration and negligent act that can spread disease dangerous to life. Meanwhile, it is learnt that the said person was later tested negative. The said person has also reportedly claimed that he hasn’t concealed any info.
The A&N Administration has made a sincere appeal to all citizens to give full disclosure of their travel history or if they come in contact directly or indirectly with a known case. The community at large should encourage their friends, neighbours to obey home isolation for atleast 14 days upon their arrival to Andamans.
