Port Blair, Mar 19: As a mark of precaution in the wake of the threat from the Noval Corona Virus disease (COVID -19), the Directorate of Shipping Services is going to implement some strict rules with immediate effect. The new rules will be Ship tickets from Port Blair to Campbell Bay, Hut Bay, Diglipur, Mayabunder, Rangat, Swarajdweep, Shaheed Dweep and Long Island will be issued to the following passengers only a) Govt Servants going for official work; For private persons going on official duty, duly certified by HoD the concerned Department; For the residents of respective Islands going to their respective islands and For exigencies where travel of non – resident of respective islands is require, the same should be recommended by SDM.
Ship tickets for Port Blair to Car Nicobar, Katchal, Teressa, Chowra, Kamorta will be issued to the following passengers only: For Govt Servants going for official work; For private persons going on official duty, duly certified by HoD of the concerned Department; For the residents/ Tribals of respective Islands going to their respective islands.
However as mentioned in Order No COVID-19 dated 19.03.2020 issued by Secretary (Health), “ No Tribal Passes be issued from Southern Group of Islands till 26.03.2020 except for official travel/ official work”.
Ship tickets from Campbell Bay, Hut Bay, Diglipur, Mayavbunder, Rangat, Car Nicobar, Katchal, Teressa, Chowra, Kamorta to any other part of Andaman & Nicobar Islands will be issued to the following passengers only: For Govt. servants going for official work to be verified by concerned SDM/Tehsildar; For medical emergency after getting joint recommendation from SDM and Officer of Health Department. In case, the SDM is not available in some of the islands, the seniormost functionary of Revenue Department alongwith the officer of Health Department
For all the above movement from Ports for Shipping Services for passengers, the deployed medical team of DHS headed by Doctor shall compulsory do medical screening/ medical examination of all the passengers before boarding. The protocol for the examination by medical team would be strictly followed.
“Deputy Director (SS) is to ensure that no passenger is to be boarded without medical examination by medical team,” a release from Shipping Services said here today.
