Port Blair, Mar 03: Under guidance of the Director General of Police, A & N Islands, Shri Dependra Pathak, IPS, the Forensic Science Laboratory, Port Blair has prepared the second edition of working manual for Crime Scene Management to identify, collect and preserve the crime evidence at any crime scene. The first manual was prepared in 2016.
This manual contains the necessary information to manage the crime scene, to protect the crime scene, to record the crime scene, to prepare the sketch of crime scene, to identify the evidences, to collect and preserve the crime evidences from the scene of crime. It contains information related to preparing the questionnaire for sending the crime exhibits to Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.
It also contains the format and precautions required for sending the crime exhibits for examination. Some differences in homicidal and suicidal crimes have also been included in this manual. This revised manual has been saturated with the information related to cyber crime and sexual assault cases.
This is revised to strengthen the investigation for the far-flung area of the Islands where the Forensic Team cannot move immediately to visit the crime scene.
The In-charge Forensic Science Laboratory, Shri Yogesh Kumar with the help of Forensic team has revised this manual to enhance the quality of evidence collection to help in investigation and prosecution.
