Port Blair, Mar 04: A major LPG leakage was detected from the LPG Cylinder Store room and the LPG pipelines of Girls’ Hostel of JNRM. According to sources since last few days girl students were getting smell of LPG leakage and the matter was communicated to the hostel warden.
Sources said that even after intimation to LPG Distributors about this leakage, by the warden no steps were taken by the LPG distributors.
Finally when the matter was communicated to the State President of NSUI, Mr. MA Sajid, the matter was immediately communicated to the Fire Services.
On information Fire Services Jawans reached the Hostel and found several leakages in the pipes of LPG cylinders and also leakages were found in four LPG cylinders. Following this all the cylinders were disconnected from the pipe lines and cylinders with leakages were kept outside in open. The LPG distributors also reached the spot.
It was observed that in the LPG Cylinder store room, where there was a leakage, as many as 20 more cylinders were stored.
Mr. Maheshwara, President, JNRM Student Council and Vishal Din, unit President JNRM, NSUI accompanied Mr. M A Sajid, State President NSUI.
