Port Blair, Feb 28: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today visited the Girls’ Hostel of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, Port Blair at 4.30 PM with huge number of senior government officials of PBMC and APWD. The Secretary of PBMC, SE of APWD and Principal JNRM also reportedly accompanied the MP.
This was the second visit of MP in last 24 hours. Earlier yesterday the MP visited the Boys’ Hostel and also Girls’ Hostel of JNRM, when he heard about the problems and today the MP came prepared with solutions.
According to details available here during the visit the Member of Parliament promised a four wheeler for the Girls’ Hostel from MPLAD fund so that in case of medical emergency the vehicle can be used to shift girl students to Hospital at night and also bring them back to Hostel safely. According to the MP the vehicle can also be pressed in service to bring other important commodities for the hostel from market and other purposes.
The Member of Parliament also promised five Refrigerators for the Girls’ Hostel and also a high tech Gym, as per the demands kept by the students from MPLAD fund.
He also promised free Wi-Fi for Boys’ & Girls’ Hostel as well as the entire college campus from MPLAD fund.
From his own pocket the MP also promised to provide sports items for students of both the Hostels.
During the meeting the Secretary of PBMC with several JEs of PBMC and SE of APWD with several JEs of APWD were present. In presence of MP the officials of PBMC assured to beautify the Hostel Campus and make a garden inside Girls’ Hostel with sitting facilities. The SE APWD assured to complete all renovation works inside both the Hostels of JNRM as soon as possible.
Hostellers of both the hostels expressed their gratitude towards NSUI for raising these issues of student in a prominent manner.
Along with the MP, senior leader of Congress party, Mrs. Ratna Kannan, State President NSUI, Mr. MA Sajid, President JNRM Student Council Mr. Maheshwaran also visited the Girls’ Hostel.
