Port Blair, Feb 25: In continuation to the PBMC’s enforcement drive towards compliance of provisions contained in Solid Waste Handling & Management Bye-Laws, 2017 by the waste generators, a spot fine of Rs. 5000.00 was made to M/s Sai Mani Cargo against the carrying & dumping of mixed waste at Junglighat area, under section 6(4) of bye-laws.
It is worth to mention that due to massive awareness activities, one unknown citizen has intimated to the PBMC Control Room No. 03192-245798 about the illegal dumping at the above said location. Upon receiving the complaint PBMC enforcement has reached the location and caught M/s Sai Mani Cargo with mixed waste being dumped at Junglighat.
Once again, PBMC has requested to practice source segregation & handover segregated waste to PBMC’s sanitation workers for onward processing and share information if any person violating SWM rules, a release from Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Secretary, Municipal Council.
