Port Blair, Feb 19: The Department of Home Science, JNRM, in association with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India organised Three-day State level Workshop on Gender Budgeting for the Government officials (First Batch). The valedictory function for the workshop was held on 19th February 2020 in seminar room, JNRM and Mr.Vijay Singh, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Intelligence) A & N Police graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering Mr.Vijay Singh, IPS, congratulated the Department of Home Science, JNRM for organising such programmes which is need of the hour. He underscored the need for Gender Budgeting in Government Departments and its proper implementation in various levels. In Gender Budgeting, allocation of public resources, remove gender inequality that will lead to social and economic advancement of the nation, he added. Further he informed the audience on the various initiatives taken by A & N Police for safeguarding the women and children like Crime Against Women Cell, Women Police Station, Pink Patrol and Child friendly corners in various Police Stations. The Guest of Honour Smt.Abinaya Nishanthini.B, IDAS, Sr.Dy IFA, ANC, Ministry of Defence spoke on the budgeting control and its relevance on Gender Budgeting. She exhorted the participants to make use of the training and be a torch bearers to utilise the knowledge gained for the benefit of others. Dr.J.S.Manhas, Principal, JNRM spoke on the greatness of women and their command over household budgeting system, in turn that experience helped them for nations development. Dr. K.Venkatesan, HOD, Homescience and Convener of this programme presented the report of the three days programme and thanked all the departments for deputing their officers to attend this three days training programme. He also thanked the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt of India for the support extended to organise the programme. Dr.S.Jayakumar, Principal, ANCOL and Dr.K.Rajmohan, Associate Professor also spoke on the occasion. Dr.K.Mangayarkarasi, Assistant Professor, Dept of Women Studies, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore spoke on Ministry of Women and Child Development Schemes and Initiatives for Gender Budgeting. Mr.Anant Mittal, IPS, SP (Traffic / Security) spoke on the Cyber Crimes and Cyber Security for women and role of Gender Budgeting, Ms. Sandhyaswamy, IPS, SDPO, South Andaman spoke on the Gender Responsive Police. Ms. B. Abinaya Nishanthini IDAS, Sr.Dy.IFA delivered a lecture on Gender Budget Analysis and Gender Audit. Dr.Rekha Kumari, Resource Person, Dept. of Home Science, JNRM delivered a lecture on Gender Budgeting Tools and Techniques on Civil Society Perspective. Ms.Neelam Anand, Sr. Audit Officer, Indian Audit and Accounts Department spoke on the Analysis the Schemes in Gender Budgeting Perspective. Ms.Nitika Garhia, Resource Person, Dept. of Home Science, JNRM spoke on Drugs and its affects on Women. Earlier Smt.Nitika Garhia, Resource Person welcomed the gathering and Smt.Nidhi Shekhawat Assistant Professor of Home Science and Co-Convener of the programme proposed vote of thanks. Dr.Rekha Kumari, Resource Person, Department of Home Science moderated the programme. Altogether 50 participants from CISF-Airport Unit, Port Unit, ISTRAC Unit, CRPF, ALHW, PTS,South Andaman Police, North & Middle Andaman Police, DCPU, Nicobar District, DCPU, Mayabunder, Directorate of Social Welfare and PRI members from Tushnabad Gram Panchayat participated in the training.
