Port Blair, Feb 18: The Senior Vice Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council, Mr R Someshwar Rao has requested the Lt Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands to direct the Andaman Nicobar Police for conducting early recruitment of Police Constable (Driver) and Police Constable (Executive) that is pending since long after its publication.
In a letter addressed to the Lt Governor, Mr R Someshwar Rao stated that the notification for filling up the vacancies of Police Constable Driver was issued in the month of November, 2017 for 25 posts, but after submission of forms no action has been initiated to fill these posts which are still lying vacant even after the lapse of almost 2 years.
He further stated that similarly, the notification for the post of Police Constables Executive was also published in the month of November, 2018, but till date the recruitment process for these posts are yet to be started.
“In Andaman & Nicobar Islands government jobs is only source of income for the local youth for which local youths are waiting, early process of recruitment may restrain local youths from all ill effects which are now is talk of the town,” stated the Senior Vice Chairperson.
He finally also requested the Lt Governor to direct other departments of Andaman & Nicobar Administration to initiate action to fill the pending vacancies as early as possible.
