Port Blair, Dec.26: With the thesis to curtail down the menace of drugs from these Islands, the Special NDPS team of South Andaman Police has proved their efficiency and booked three accused under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 with a recovery of 9.38 Kgs of Ganja.
On 25.12.2019, a credible information was received regarding possession of huge quantity of ganja with a Kolkatta flight passenger, upon this a raiding team led by Insp. Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen comprising SI Surjit Bhattacharjee, ASI Sanjay Yadav, PCs Ashish Mallick, S. Nanak Singh, M. Raja Rao and PC(D)/ Sanchit Lall was constituted and conducted raid on a suspicious person namely Bakibulla Sardar S/o Late Kayam Sardar, 29 yrs R/o Makhaltala, Bansra, Jivanthala, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal and recovered a total of 9.38 Kgs of Ganja. Later, two more persons were arrested for their involvement in this illicit trade.
The entire operation took place under Smti. Sandhya Swamy, IPS, SDPO South Andaman under the overall direction and supervision of Shri. Manoj C., IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The general public is requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to Police at 112, 03192-232100 & 03192-233077. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
