Port Blair, Oct.15: As part of Poshan Maah under National Nutrition Mission, The Andaman & Nicobar UT Commission for Protection of Child Rights (UTCPCR) organized various awareness camps on the importance of nutrition for pregnant ladies, lactating mothers, children and also for adolescence girls. The camps were organized in different areas of these Islands, covering rural and municipal area.
The camps were organized in association with the Pradhan of Gram Panchayats, Zilla Parishad Members, Ward Councilors and staff of PHC of the respective area. Such camp was organized at Kadamtala for PRI, PHC, Anganwadi ASHA Workers and staff of BDO office on Sept.27, 2019, at
Uttara on Sept.28, 2019, Tusnabad for PHC, PRI, Anganwadi workers and faculty from JNRM on Sept.27, 2019 and Ferrargunj on Sept.28, 2019.
In Municipal area, the camps were organized at Prothrapur – Community Hall, ward No.19 for PHC and Councilors on Sept.27, 2019, Dairy Farm Community Hall ward No. 9, 14 and 15 on Sept.30, 2019.
All together 500 beneficiaries attended the programme, which were organized by the UTCPCR. Shri Taranga Kumar Dhali, Chairperson, UTCPCR, Smt. Sampa Banarjee, Member, UTCPCR and Smti. Neeta Agrawal, Member, UTCPCR also participated in these programme and highlighted the important of nutrition and also interacted with the participants.
