Port Blair, Oct 15: MAKRUZZ is introducing a new schedule to Baratang from Port Blair this season. The proposed schedule for the said trip is: Departure from Port Blair at 6 AM; Arrival at Baratang 8 AM; Departure from Baratang for Havelock at 12.30 Noon; and subsequently connecting at 2.45 PM to Port Blair.
This alternative sea route to Baratang has been introduced to give the tourists more options and visit Baratang to see the attractions like ‘Lime Stone Caves’ and ‘Mud Volcano’. It also gives the travel agents/tour operators more flexibility in preparing itinerary for their guests and the option of seeing Baratang en-route to Havelock.
To promote this new sector, a FAM trip was organized today by MAKRUZZ in which 126 persons consisting of travel agents, tour operators, print and visual media and students studying hospitality in B.R. Ambedkar Technical Institute, Port Blair participated. All of them left Port Blair at 7.45 AM and reached Baratang Jetty at 9.45 AM, where they were received by Mr. Alagarswamy, the Up-Adhyaksha of South Andaman Zilla Parishad and Mr. Devanand Pathak, SHO, PS Baratang subsequent to which a boat trip to the Lime Stone Cave was organized.
All the participants have appreciated the trip especially the scenic view through the creek of Baratang lined with mangroves on both the sides.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Mohammad Jadwet ,Commercial Director ,MAK logistics, expressed his gratitude towards the Administration for all clearances and said that now tourist have choice of traveling to Baratang by road or reaching Baratang by sea, sailing with mangroves. “This vessel has 240 passenger capacity and all are premium seats. Anybody can buy tickets online or from our office directly,” he said.
“We are introducing this wonderful package in which now the tourists can explore Port Blair, Baratang and Havelock on the same day, very easily,” Zeenat Jadwet ,Manager, Marketing and Sales, MAK logistics said.
