Port Blair, Sep 14: In continuation of the Press Release dated 13.09.2017, there was no load shedding from midnight to 9.00 a.m. following the resumption of 3.5 MW power supply from 1st unit of M/s Suryachakra Power Plant (SPCL) which started functioning yesterday.
Further, one unit of 1.6 MW of HPP-II i.e. M/s Sudhir Genset Consortium has been commissioned and will deliver 1.2 MW extra power in the grid today. The 3 MW Generator of 2nd unit of M/s SPCL has been taken-up for start-up and is likely to be added in the grid by Sunday.
The addition of the above two generators of 1.2 MW and 3 MW will give significant relief to the residents of Port Blair and South Andaman. The Electricity Department is trying its best to eliminate load shedding during late night and day hours except for emergency maintenance, line faults or scheduled load shedding in evening peak hours to maintain grid stability.
The power position is going to improve further in the next 7-8 days after two new units of 1 MW each are commissioned by M/s New Bharat for which work is going on in full swing.
