Port Blair, Nov 29: As the last day for inclusion of name in Islanders’ Identity Card is approaching fast people are making bee line infront of Tehsilder office. Unbelievably long queue is obviously leaving public deeply harassed.
When visited the Tehsil Office, dozens and dozens of people with documents were seen standing in longs queue for including the names of their children, wife in the Islanders’ Identity Card list.
Though, there were two separate counters one for ladies and another for gents but those were clearly insufficient for public.
People alleged that as only 6 days are left to submit the application form everyone is in great rush and it’s a kind of harassment to stand in such a long queue. Worst hit are government servants who doesn’t get much time for such works.
“We government servants are unable to come and stand in long queues and therefore the administration should consider opening the counter on Saturdays too,” requested some government servants.
Many other alleged that for inclusion of name staffs are asking for only attested documents, which is again adding to their woes, even after strict notification that self attested is enough for submitting an application for government related purposes.
Hope the administration will look into the matter and will take necessary steps to solve the problems of the people. After all for getting Islanders’ Identity Card, the Islanders should not suffer.
