Port Blair, Nov 29: The Port Management Board, Andaman & Nicobar Islands is working hard to develop every single infrastructure for adding an alternate sea route to Baratang.
It is also a long pending demand of a section society that ferry connectivity from Port Blair to Baratang should start for the easy movement of general public and tourists. Moreover it is believed by International and national Tribal experts that this alternative route will end, so called, ‘Human Safari’ inside Jarawa Tribal Reserve.
As per reports, extension of Jetty at Baratang is on progress, dredging work in creeks of Baratang has already been completed.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha recently, the Chief Port Administrator, PMB, Dr RD Tripathi said that there is a proposal to start an speed boat service to Baratang and thus for that the Jetty extension work, for proper berthing facilities at Baratang, is on.
He said that marking of lights with pillar has to be done so that ferries can find way in creeks and for this the process is on.
“Within the coming one year all the infrastructural works will be completed and Speed Boat Berthing facility will be available for the DSS, to start an alternate sea route,” Dr Tripathi said.
