Port Blair, May 29: On 26/5/12 at 1115 hrs on a credible information received about gambling at Ferrargunj village, a team of Police personnel led by ASI V.P. Mishra, Incharge OP Tushnabad sweiftly swung into action and raided the Disaster Management Hall building at Ferrargunj and arrested 05 persons namely Ashraf S/o Alvi (29) R/o Wimberligunj, Vinod Prasad S/o Late Amin Prasad (44) R/o Ferrargunj, Dayal Das S/o M.C. Das (27) R/ o Ferrargunj, Sujit Samadar S/ o Gokul Samadar (33) R/ o Ferrargunj and Sudarshan. S/o Late Sudetran (45) R/o Dundaspoint and seized Rs. 4315/-alongwith 104 playing cards. All the arrested persons have been booked under appropriation sections of A & N Gambling Regulation 1956.
The Police team which conducted the raid comprised of HC/ 681 Ganesh Kumar, PC/1931 S.C. Das, PC/2305 Ashok Kullu, PC/1314 Aboobacker Siddique, HG(R) Shiv Saroop, under the direct supervision of SI Sahil Shamsuddin, SHO PS Ograbraj and Mr. R.L. Meena, DySp(MASD).
The general public is requested to pass on credible information on gambling and other illegal activities on the telephone numbers 258019,224934,9933227400 and 100. It is stated that the identity of the informant will be kept secret.
