Port Blair, May 27: The Bharatiya Janta Party’s Andaman and Nicobar State Unit has given a call for Andaman bandh on May 31 against the steepest-ever hike in petrol price effected by the Centre.
“This will not only be a burden on the public but will be an extra load on the entire nation as the prices of all essential commodities will automatically increase now,” a release from the BJP’s local unit said here today.
Meanwhile the BJP unit has urged the Chamber of Commerce, Grain Dealers Association, Bus union, Auto Association, Builders Association, Gold Merchant Association, Barber Association, Tours and travels Association, Taxi Association, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and all other organisations to support the Andaman Bandh on 31st May, 2012.
According to BJP the Bandh will be observed from 6.00 AM to 6.00 PM. “BJP urges general public to observe the Bandh on May 31,” the release added.
