Port Blair, Oct 15: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands will observe World Food Day on October 16, 2015. A programme will be organised in the conference hall of Zonal Agriculture Office, Goalghar at 10:30 am in which the Secretary (Agri) will be the chief guest. The Pradhan of Guptapara and Humphreygunj will be the guest of honour on the occasion.
The theme for this year’s observance is ‘Social Protection and Agriculture: Breaking the cycle of Rural Poverty. The day is observed to mark the formation of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) on this day in 1945.
