Port Blair, Aug 10: The 69th Independence Day celebrations shall be held at Netaji Stadium on 15th August, 2015. The Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands shall hoist the Tricolour (National Flag) at 0900 hrs and take salute of the Independence Day Parade.
To ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the Independence Day celebration on 15th August, 2015, the Andaman & Nicobar Police has requests the general public to avoid bringing various items along with them and to cooperate with the Police personnel deployed on duty at Netaji Stadium in connection with security arrangements.
Accordingly, people have been urged not to bring umbrellas, Ink pen, water bottle, eatable items, knife, gas lighter, remote control keys & any type of bags. They have been urged not to come wearing black colour clothes for attending the programme. They have been requested to put camera/video cameras for proper security check, park vehicles at the allotted parking place.
Jungle boots, gum boots will be subjected to security check.
While seated near VIP, people have been asked to keep mobile phones on silent or switch off mode.
They have been advised not to panic in case of anything happens during the ceremony. There are six exist gates on the ground. In case of emergency, people must allow children, elderly persons and women to move first and help them to move through nearest exist gates.
People have also been asked not to carry plastic flags & cap, a communication from the Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District said.
