Port Blair, Jan 19: The South Andaman District Special Police team comprising of ASI M. Abdul Rasheed, HC Sanjay, Constables Ashish Mallick, M. Raja Rao & RakeshToppo, under the supervision of DySP(SA) Shri Mohd Aslam,have arrested sixteen persons from two different gambling dens at Junglighat Sea Shore and Dairy Farm on 15th& 16th January, 2015 and Rs.57,040/- gambling money have been seized from them.
On 15/01/2015, on receipt of credible information, the team raided the first gambling den at Junglighat sea shore and arrested seven persons namely JogaRao (21) yrs. R/o Junglighat Fisherman colony, S. Sedupathi (24) yrs R/o Bambooflat, Hope Town, B. Kalidas (20) yrs R/o Junglighat Fisheries Colony,P. Nagraj (25) yrs R/o Junglighat Seashore, N. Ganesh (37) yrs DRM PBMC R/o Junglighat Seashore, M. Ramakrishna R/o Junglighat Seashore and R. Palaniappan (24) yrs R/o Junglighat from the den. Rs.40,00/- board money alongwith 52 Nos. playing cards were seized from the spot and Rs.2290/-seized from their personal search.
Meanwhile in another gambling raid on 16/01/15 at Dairy Farm arrested nine persons namelyE. Shiv Ram (36) yrs,S. Adinarayana (27) yrs, KondaHemaRaju (29) yrs, B. Shyam Sunder Rao (26) yrs, B. Vasudev (39) yrs,V. Joga Rao, K. Murali Krishna (34) yrs, V. Giri (25)yrs and P. Linga Raju (28) yrsall R/o Dairy Farm Fisherman Colony from the gambling den.Rs.26,000/- board money alongwith 52 Nos. playing cards were seized from the spot and Rs.24,750/-seized from their personal search.
The gamblers have been booked under the A&N Gambling Regulation.
