Port Blair, Sept 16: Based on the allegations of irregularities in recruitment process of Staff Nurses under the Directorate of Health Services, the A&N Administration had constituted a committee to inquire into. It is reliably learnt that the Committee has come to the conclusion that prima facie there were gross irregularities, the report of which has been submitted to the Administration.
Taking up the issue with the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament said that it has been brought to his knowledge that the Committee’s report has been handed over to the Anti-Corruption Unit for conducting a detailed enquiry.
Bishnu has called upon the Lt. Governor to set a time frame for the Anti Corruption Unit to complete the enquiry so that action can be taken in the matter.
“I would like to impress upon the Administration that early action is essentially required not only to build confidence amongst the citizen but also to assuage the concerns of the unemployed nurses by restoring to fair selection at the earliest, if so required, as the vacancies do need to be filled up fairly and quickly”, stated Bishnu in his letter to the Lt. Governor.
Bishnu Pada Ray has also requested the Lt. Governor to brief the press about the outcome of the enquiry so that general public is made aware of the fairness of the steps taken by the Administration.
